NASA successfully set a new record for sending a laser signal over 460 million km In Deep Space.

Washington, DC: NASA successfully set a new record for sending a laser signal over 290 million miles (460 million km). This experiment will change the way we explore our solar system.
This milestone was achieved by NASA’s Deep Space Optical Communications Technology. The purpose of this experiment is to determine whether using lasers in deep space is feasible.

Lasers are capable of transferring more data than radio frequency, which is more commonly used nowadays due to which high-definition or complex data can be sent easily. The laser can now transfer 100% more data than radio frequency. To achieve this task, lasers must be highly accurate to their target.
In this experiment, the signal is sent to Psyche spacecraft from NASA. This spacecraft was launched in October last year. The main objective of this spacecraft was to observe Planet Psyche. This spacecraft was also used for a NASA laser experiment in space.
