Colorado: Scientists at the University of Colorado Boulder published their new study; they said they are working on a technology that is capable of charging a mobile phone or laptop in 1 minute.

In the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, a scientist in Anker Gupta’s lab published a study of how tiny charged particles, called ions, move in a complex network inside minuscule holes.

Ankar Gupta said the breakthrough could help create advanced energy storage devices such as supercapacitors.

“Because of the important role energy will play in the future, applying your chemical engineering knowledge to cutting-edge energy storage devices is a great privilege,” Anker said.

A variety of chemical engineering techniques are used to study the flow of ions in porous materials, such as oil reservoirs or water filtration, although they are not fully utilized in some energy storage systems, Anker Gupta said

This discovery is not important only for energy storage in vehicles, mobiles, or laptops but can also be used in power grids where energy is lost during off-loading.
