Why NASA is interested in the installation of clocks on the moon.

The passing of time is one of the most difficult issues for any human to understand.

If you ever noticed at the top of the mountain, the time (seconds) passed moves faster than at ground level. A common man, however, does not focus on this matter, but this is reality.

As technology evolves, it has intensified the competition between the countries. After the US and other European countries, now China is entering the ground. All countries want to settle humans on the moon.

On the surface of the moon, an earth day is 56 microseconds shorter. This is a small difference, but its impact can be huge.

NASA is busy understanding this complication in time on the moon with their international partner. Cheryl Gremling, an expert at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland (USA), says that scientists are not thinking about creating a new timezone for the moon, but they are planning to create a new timescale through which they can understand the passing flow of time on the moon and Earth.

In a recent memo, the US president ordered NASA to prepare and finalize its plan for a new time scale for the moon by 31 December. He also says that to study and research on the moon from zero this was a much-needed step. He also directed NASA that NASA should launch this new timescale by the end of 2026.

NASA also has a plan to drop their astronauts again on the surface of the moon in 2026. The last time any astronaut touched the moon was five decades ago.

The next few months will be more crucial for timekeepers all around the world in terms of how they can manage the time on the moon, and a big question is raised at the moon: where will they install clocks?
